1. Maintenance workshops 2026:
We are very happy to have access again this year to the Reliance building for the time being. Jack and Finbarra team have been working in there on Fionbarra projects again preparing for launch soon.
We hope to start to shift boats needing attention up to Reliance building again in coming weeks for indoor (weather protected!) maintenance projects. Once we have a few projects lined up we will let people know, and hopefully start to organise maintenance 'Meitheal's' again shortly. Many hands make light work, and also gives a chance to find out what hidden skills we have among the members!!
More to follow on dates for gathering's!
2. Meitheal Mara support:
Meitheal Mara are very happy to assist, but can have limited workshop capacity, and we need to liaise with them through Elaine Winters (NC liason representative on board of MM) to confirm if and when assistance is required.
3. Logging of issues:
In meantime, we would suggest that anyone who notices any issues with boats might post on the forum here again so we can log and prioritise works. It might be helpful if rowers spot any issues for attention on rows, that they notify duty captain, who can pass along the line as well.
4. Moving boats to town:
We might try to arrange the club trailer to sit on left of gate at Shandon again and boats with urgent attention required can be loaded on trailer after row, rather than back on stands, and either after row or soon after we can arrange to tow to Reliance for attention.
Updates to follow!! Oisin 🙂
Great to get updates, but if we could post one message with all issues anyone is aware of, rather than overloading with one by one it would simplify task! Most of these have been highlighted already and are being assembled in an update spreadsheet. The new list will hopefully offer a 'traffic light system' of prioritising the works needed. Oisin
Would be good to get full list of which boats are in PP, since I have not been there a good while, and demand growing for boats in City too!
We now have agreement with Meitheal Mara (and very grateful for the support) to start using the Reliance building once again for maintenance of the boats that need 'covered' works. Currently the Reliance building needs a bit of 're-arranging' of boats to make some room for works. We now have a plan and have agreement from all to make this bit bit of a tidy up. If there are a few hands available to assist, we might arrange the first 'meitheal' workshop evening in there to do the tidy up, this Wednesday evening 11th March, at 7pm. I will open yard gate and we can park inside for the time we are there. The plan would involve some moving boats and bits in the building, to create some more accessible work areas. If we get enough help, it should not take more than an hour, and once all shuffled, we can arrange to bring the first NC boat up hopefully, in the following week or so, with a plan for boats needing attention & TLC to be shared next week. Oisin 😊
