This years Ocean to City has attracted a bumper entry. It looks like that including kayaks we will have over 600 entries.  This is a major event for the city. As you know it is run entirely by volunteers. Unfortunately we are very short of volunteers this years and are putting out a renewed call for people to help on the day.  No experience is necessary.  You will be paired with someone who has experience.  All activities are land based and will ensure sure the smooth running of the festival.  You don’t have to be a member of Naomhoga Chorcai, so reach out to your friends. You will be provided with a t shirt and lunch on the day.   If you can help at all please leave you’re contact details here.  Or contact me by text or whatsapp on 0876739036. Or speak to me on at the club row on Saturday coming.  You will be provided with a t shirt and lunch. And its not all work. Afterwards their will be activities in the festival tent on Kennedys Quay.

Hi Frank, I wasn't sure if I would be available to volunteer for Saturday, but I am now, if it's not too late!

Congratulations and Thanks for the 21st Ocean to City

Well done to all participants in Ocean to City this year. Quite a challenging year for the weather, so it's a great achievement that stands to all participants who want to go on to do other adventurous rowing this summer, and serves as a great milestone in all of our rowing "careers".

Thanks to a very long list of people who made it all possible. A special thanks to Jim Malone and John Mitchell who stepped in to organise the training rows. A special thanks to Oisin Creagh and many others for organising boat repairs / maintenance / tarring to have sufficient boats seaworthy and looking their best on the big day. Another thanks to Miriam Murphy's team for the lovely food at the meet the crews event in the idle hour the evening before the race. There's more thanks for towers, boat loaders, weather forecast checkers, each captain for all the coaching of crews for the race and many more things that we have to be thankful for that makes the day work, and makes the day so enjoyable. And thanks to a very long list of volunteers taken from current and past club members and friends and family who volunteer in a myriad of roles on the day. Without these volunteers the event would not work, and there's so many of them to thank I wouldn't know where to start.

Another mention has to go out to the Meitheal Mara team who I believe called the weather perfectly with quite a difficult borderline forecast. The borderline forecasts are always the most difficult. Hopefully it didn't make things too difficult for the safety teams on land and on water. I think we'll all agree that the festivities at the finish line with the prizegiving on the Spanish ship, and the stage were bigger and better than previous years.

Thanks for all the happy memories of ocean to city 2026

Colin
