Paddy's Day fun regatta is on for this year!!

We will run racing from St Patrick's Quay on the afternoon of Paddy's Day - meet at the steps near the bridge at 3:30 pm.  The races will be run so that each competitor has the same number of races, and will row with 2 different crew each time.  Points for each rower for each result -  and a run-off race if the organisers decide it is a good idea.  There are prizes.

We need to know how many we have competing so please sign up  (Entries closed) if you fancy this bit of craic.  Sign up as soon as possible but by Saturday 15th March

Boats will be launched at SBC and brought to the "arena" at 1pm so there will be time for spectation at the parade.

  1. Hi, do we need to go to SBC first to launch and bring the boats up to Patrick's Quay ?

Thank you for asking Mary...

The boats have to be launched at 2pm at SBC.  They can be towed or rowed up to the start.  JT and I will be there at the time so at least 4 others will be appreciated.  They will  also need to be stowed afterwards.

I'll go to SBC too Jack. I was a bit confused about " the metal boat .... " bit in your email .... Wasn't too sure if help was needed at SBC. I'll be on my bike so if not needed to join the rowing meitheal  bringing boats upriver to start point I can cycle into town and meet ye there

Lots of fun on Paddy's Day with spectators leaning out windows and scattered around the quays to enjoy the spectacle.   Six races were run.  Well done to the prize winners ...

Winner: Jim Malone.
Runners-up: Colm Burke, Frank O’Brien and Sean Cunningham.

Thanks to Meitheal Mara for use of the metal workboat, and to NC Committee for provision of prizes including a substantial CH Marine voucher.

Beidh craic againn arís an lá 'le Pádraig seo chugaing!!
