We now have 13 members signed up. In order of application 1. Frank O Neill 2. Donna Schwarz 3. Hammy 4 Ivan 5. Paul Murray 6. Jim Malone 7. Tomas Fenton 8. Colm Tyres 9. Miriam Murphy 10. Bill Holohan 11. Julia Richards 12. Orla 13. Collette Sweetnam 14. Zoltan.  Hopefully by Sunday we will have enough to bring 4 boats.  Boat loading will be on Saturday after the public row.  We can arrange lift sharing then. One note of warning, present weather systems are coming up from the Bay of Biscay and are notoriously difficult to predict. The present weather forecast is for winds at the upper end of our scale, but at the moment we are going.

I'm up for it, with the proviso that I have to be home by about 6pm.

Added to the above list are Shane, Susanne, Tash, and Laurence. We are looking at the possibility of the Blackwater as an alternative if Capel Island is too windy.

The wind which is gusting up to 50k from the east makes Capel Island unsuitable.  We are now planning to go from Youghal up the Blackwater as far as Knockanore and back down to Youghal. Most  people are meeting in Shandon at 9.15 to depart at 9.20. Car sharing etc can be done then.  We want to be as far up the river as possible when the tides change at 12.16, hence the early start.  Others are going directly to the car park near the Quays pub in Youghal for 10am. The list of people coming at the moment is 1. Frank O Neill 2. Donna Schwarz 3. Hammy 4 Ivan 5. Jim Malone 6. Tomas Fenton 7. Colm Tires 8. Julia Richards 9. Orla 10. Zoltan. 11. Shane, 12. Susanne 13. Tash, 14. Laurence.

Marine Warnings

  • Status: Yellow East to southeast winds will reach force 6 at times.

Small Craft warning from Carnsore Point to Dungarvan to Valentia

East to southeast winds will reach force 6 at times.

    Valid: 06:00 Sunday 17/08/2025 to 12:00 Sunday 17/08/2025

    Issued: 11:02 Saturday 16/08/2025

In the light of the above we are going to have to cancel tomorrows row. Better now than having to cancel in Youghal.  Unfortunately there are four boats on trailers which we now have to unload. Suggest 11 am tomorrow, Sunday.  I will look at dates in September for rescheduling the Capel Island trip.
