Yvonne Weaver and Alan Macnamidhe have asked me to convey their withdrawal from the Cape Clear trip.

I thought that I signed myself and Stacy Tinkler up for this row. But not sure now, looking back over the posts.

Anyway, if there is still room could you add us to the list as well please.

@jack-okeeffe - No problem. Crews will be confirmed mid week, once we get weather thumbs up. 👍

@greine - Watching weather closely. Still pretty unsettled and marginal, but we might make a call tomorrow night to allow time for people to commit and boat loading etc. fingers crossed. 🤞😉

Hopefully we will be able to make a call tonight on the weekend. It's still very changeable but is actually settling down a bit. I will share a lift of people who have expressed an interest later today, and we can try to make call. It is looking like Sunday might be better than Saturday at the minute, and I know there are a few people who might be free Sunday who were not available Saturday and probably some who might only be free Saturday! Don't panic about committing until we make call tonight and then we can just review who is available and how many boats needed. It's currently likely to be four boats, two each on two trailers.  Fingers crossed.  Update tonight. O.🙂

Unfortunately the weather seems to be against us this weekend. The latest view of forecast suggests that at the moment Saturday looks like a non runner, and Sunday not much better I am afraid.

With such a variable forecast, there is a good chance even if a window opened up, it was likely to be unpredictable and likely to change again at short notice.

At this point it seems unlikely that the weather will allow the planned trip unfortunately, and I would not be very optimistic of improvement or settling down.  If anyone is making weekend plans, I think it is better to assume its not happening! However, if we see a break, and for those flexible enough to make the call at the last minute, we are still happy to bring three boats on one trailer, should the picture change closer to the time.

Will keep an eye and post again in next few days.

The best detail forecast update will be late tonight. Sunday might still be an option for anyone who is still interested.  I think we might review in morning tomorrow and if it looks good, I can do headcount of people still interested during the day, if it was to be an Easter Sunday row!

Saturday, during the day is settling/ improving, so sea would be settled for Sunday as things look for now: Would not be much fun if it starts to look like lots of rain coming in!

If it still looks good for Sunday, we would load boats after Saturday morning row.

If we need four boats, then two boats in Reliance building (one is already on the trailer) will be loaded on the trailer in there, and two can be loaded in Shandon after Saturday morning row.  I will need to travel to Paddy's Point on Saturday to collect the oars (still down there) for the boats in Reliance (Rinceor Na Greine and Dluth Taca).

If it is decided to go with Sunday Plan, volunteers will be needed in Reliance building maybe at 10.15am on Saturday, on way down to the rowing, to load one boat, and then after row in Shandon, to load the two others on trailer down there.

I know the last minute decision is challenging, but the names that were on the interested list I had assembled already include:

I have a few more who were considering joining, and I am sure some may not be available if Sunday.

If all going ahead maybe we make final call for remaining interested parties by end of tomorrow.

Rowers who expressed interest:

  • Oisin Creagh
  • Kate Magner
  • Colm Burke
  • Paul Murray
  • Shane Murphy.
  • Carol Hedigan
  • Caitrionabean
  • John O Regan
  • Suzanne O’Sullivan
  • John Mitchel
  • Stacy Tinkler
  • Jim Malone
  • Elaine Winters.
  • Marianne
  • Paula Spillane
  • Ruth
  •
  • Tash Burke (suggested maybe if Sunday)
  • Alex  (suggested maybe if Sunday)

Maybe confirm still interested in a Sunday trip when you can, and we will make final call before Friday night and Saturday boat loading plans.

Oisin
