UPDATE:

Teams will take their boats out for a short row to identify any leaks or other issues with the boats,

make sure that the oars are in good condition and suitable to row,

have all necessary items ready and gathered for the race: painters, footrests, dowels, bailers etc

And if time allows, a quick tidy-up of the site.

Paint options for the boats are being investigated at the moment, painting/sealing the skins will not take place tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

There will be a meitheal this Thursday at 6pm to prepare the boats for O2C and freshen up any boats onsite that need a little TLC. All O2C crews are encouraged to attend to ensure that their boats are in good condition for the race.

The work done by the maintenance team to date has been absolutely fantastic but they have enough to do. This is a task that we can all chip in and help with.

It's forecast to be a beautiful evening, so bring your sunglasses and wear old clothes.

Donna, Kate & Susanne

Would be good to share the list of boats planned to be taking part in O2C to confirm all are OK. Bad Nua, still in reliance with some significant gunwhale damage. We are unlikely to be able to get assistance from MM on this at this stage, and may need to carry out some temporary timber repairs if this is not an option.

Also worth reviewing what work is needed to what boats, before Thursday if possible, as more paint etc may need to be ordered and there is a bit of a process to the painting, in terms of cleaning/ washing boats in advance and prepping etc.

We understand that Rinceor and Dluth Taca are in Paddy's Point at the moment, and both need some TLC again. Probably need to be brought to city or a meitheal down there too.

Hi all, Ruth, Colm and Collette will be there on Thursday for the Meitheal. Magic Brat is our boat. We think it’s in good shape. We’ll double check on Thursday. Thanks a mill 😊

Hi All.

Elaine, Paula and Marianne will join the Meitheal at 6pm on Thursday evening.

Ron Dubh had some repairs / maintenance recently but there is still a small amount of water ingress.

One of the no 2 oars was damaged during the public row last Sat. Tip of the oar, approx 6” has broken off.

There is a loose dowel on the top of the handle of one of the no. 2 oars.  We were planning to secure it with some wood glue but I don’t think that was done yet.

As far as I know. Bow and Stern lines are in place.

Hi all,

Apologies for the short notice.

I've notified a member of each crew. This evenings meitheal won't be any painting. Rather a check to see what is required and to prioritise boats.

If your boat is ship shape then there may be no need but also if you want to take them out for a row to check.

We'll hopefully have a solution for Monday on the paint.

Regards,

Donna

Hi All.. Our boat is at PP. I can have a look this evening if the code is the same as SBC.... Rinceoir na Greine.

Option for different oars was our crews thinking after last row from PP

Thanks,

Deirdre

@torc29 Hi Deirdre, apologies for not replying sooner. The oars are being looked at.

You probably already realised that the gate to pp isn't the same as sbc.

Hope it wasn't a wasted journey.
