Breandan Mac Conamhna Talk on Saturday 6th June 3pm Cork City Library

Naomhoga Chorcai has organised a rare opportunity to hear Breandan McConamhna talk about his lifelong passion for currachs in Cork City Library at 3pm, this Saturday.  Breandan has a deep knowledge of currachs and their important place in Ireland's cultural and social history.  His father was involved in providing plans for a Belderrig Currach for the National Museum in the 1930s and he has maintained a passion for them ever since. His passion is matched by an encyclopedic knowledge. Breandan is also one of the last fluent speakers of Irish in the Erris dialect of North Mayo. We are honoured that he agreed to come to Cork as part of the Cork Harbour Festival, as he now rarely makes appearances outside his home town. Unmissable.
