Hey Colin,

Hope you are well! Just reviewing the rota there. I seem to be on Captains duty twice in October. It may be ok but I won't know until closer to the time. Anyway, no biggie but just to let you know (:

I’m just seeing this now and realize I missed my captain’s duty last week. I apologize to those that had to scramble to fill my slot and thank my replacement. I’m in your debt and I’m happy to swap for one of your future slots.

Hi all,

Having talked to Colin (our club Captain) here are some reminders for our Saturday Day Captains.

1) It's the responsibility of the Saturday Day Captains to make a call about their Saturday row as to whether:

A) They cancel it.

B) Make it a members row only.

C) Make it a members row only and calling it at the Quay side as to whether the row goes ahead or not.

Their decision will be based on prevailing weather conditions. If the conditions are borderline the lead Captain can contact the Committee for guidance if necessary.

Once the decision is made, the lead Captain needs to contact the committee by early Friday evening at the latest, in order for their decision to be posted on the website and forum.            (Note: The lead Captain is the first name on the list for each of the scheduled Saturday Public rows. See calendar rota above)

2) The lead Captain is to contact each of their co-Captains the week before each of their scheduled Saturday duty days.

3) The lead Captain will also contact the Lead Captain for the following Saturday's row. This will allow each Captain to keep an eye on the weather for the week preceeding their Saturday.

4) Each individual Captain needs to be mindful that it's their responsibility to turn up for their Saturday Captains Duty. In the event where they can not, they need to find a replacement.

5) Finally as this Saturday's Day Captains are fairly new to all this and having unfavourable weather conditions tomorrow, tomorrow's row has been cancelled. Winds are for 30km gusting to near 60 for the morning.

If any of the above is unclear, please contact either myself or the Club Captain.

Wishing everyone a happy and holy Easter weekend.

The best. John M.

Sincere apologies. I missed my spot in the captains rota on 28 March. I hadn't logged in for some time as I was away and hadn't realised I was down for that Saturday.

Many thanks to Jack who used his Hercules Poirot powers of detection to work out that I might not have seen that I was on the rota and likely wasn't in Cork. Correct on both counts and I'm grateful to him for organising a stand in, and grateful to whomever took my place.

I'll keep a closer eye on the forums. I'll be trying to get up to the city from west Cork more over the coming months and getting a few rows in. Though I'm away for some of the coming months if I can stand in for anyone when needed let me know.

Jasper
