Fun Regatta 2026 - THANK YOU!

Hi everyone,

One week out from the NC Fun Regatta and we are still getting positive feedback and hearing about how great a day it was from lots of people, both from our club and from visiting clubs.

The NC Committee just wanted to extend a huge thank you to John Tynan and John Mitchell for all their hard work that brought this event back to Cork and to Naomhoga Chorcai. And thanks to all who participated, spectated, brought food, made a trophy, contributed a hat, manned safety boats and helped set up for the event on the day. We had 9 crews participate and we hope to have even more next year! A big congratulations to all for making the regatta such a success!

Cork Dragons Remembrance Paddle

Some long time members may have known Mark O'Connor. He was a very enthusiastic boater in Cork and was a regular volunteer. Cork Dragons are organising a remembrance paddle in his honour this Saturday. As the majority of current members may not have known Mark, I don't envisage the entire Saturday morning fleet taking part, but a boat or two may be interested in taking part. Anyone wishing to take part, please co-ordinate with those on duty on Saturday morning. Don't forget, this Saturdays row starts at 10 rather than 10.30 due to the parking experiment.

They plan to depart from Lapps Quay in their dragon boat at 10.30 and row downriver as far as Shandon (if the weather doesn't allow they may decide to do the north channel instead)

At 11 they plan to have a flower ceremony at Lapps Quay followed by a gathering in Tequila Jacks.

O2C training row from PP Sunday 26/04/2026 meeting 9.00am

O2C training row from Paddy’s Point on Sunday 26th April. Meeting 9.00 am for on water departure 9.30am. Subject to weather with current forecast good.

Proposed course PP – Roches Point – Spit Bank – white Point- PP.

LW Cobh 8.43am 1.14m

Depending on numbers we will look at loading and towing boats from SBC on Saturday if required. Seats will still be limited and priority will be given to O2C participants.

Can 02C captains register interest here and confirm how many of your crew are available so we can decide if we need to bring boats from SBC and facilitate other club members if possible.

We have the loan of a bit of warehouse space Near Marina Market, where we have been doing works for the past week or so. We might pull in a few volunteers shortly to join us, but easy access and cover allows quick in and out. We do have one very significant issue with the paint cracking on the base coat on a good few boats and are exploring solutions. Will keep all posted.
